Machs grating clips are stainless steel hold-down fasteners that lock fiberglass grating panels to their supports, so the panels cannot shift, lift or rattle yet can still be removed for maintenance. Each clip type suits a particular grating type and support condition. As a fiberglass grating manufacturer, Machs supplies the matching clips, and they can ship with Machs molded or pultruded grating, so the panels and their fixings arrive in one order.

T clip05Clip Types
Five clip types cover most fiberglass grating installations.
U-shaped clip with a center bolt that clamps two adjacent bars to the support.
Heavy-duty areas and floors with vibration; needs a hole in the support.
Selection
Start with the grating, then the support.
Molded grating needs a clip that fits its square mesh, while pultruded grating needs one that follows its parallel bearing bars.
Next, check whether the support can be drilled: if not, a G clip fixes to the flange from above.
Finally, raise the clip count or choose a heavier type where vibration, wind or water flow could lift the panels.
J, U, W, Paw and CSSM clips and clamps are also available on request.
Material
A clip has to last as long as the grating it holds, so it must resist the same corrosive conditions.
Grade 316 stainless steel resists pitting and crevice corrosion in warm, chloride-bearing environments better than standard grades, which is why it is the recommended choice for chemical plants, coastal docks and wastewater facilities.

Specifications
Machs supplies grating clips to the following specifications.
Bolt, nut and washer includedInstallation
Correct spacing keeps panels secure without overloading the bars.
About one clip per 1.2 m of panel length and width.
At least four clips per panel, more under heavy or dynamic loads.
Add clips at corners, mid-span joints and edges, where panels tend to lift.
TighteningUse a torque wrench to the recommended force; over-tightening can crush the bars, especially on pultruded grating.
One Order
Ordering clips with the grating avoids a second purchase and mismatched sizes.
Matched to the grating.
The Panel Layout Calculator on this site gives a first panel count.

Clip type, quantity and fit for Machs molded and pultruded grating.
Use an M clip where the support can be drilled and you want two bars clamped firmly; use a G clip where drilling or welding is not allowed.
At least four, at roughly 1.2 m spacing, with more at corners, joints and under heavy loads.
Not always. Molded square mesh and pultruded bearing bars need clips that match their geometry, so state the grating type and depth when ordering.
